Desktop with discrete Navi 21, Noble HWE:
- Linux Mint 22.3 (Ubuntu 24.04 noble base), X11/Cinnamon
- ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-F (Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz, BIOS 1502),
AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (Navi 21 / sienna_cichlid, PCI 1002:73bf), amdgpu
- Two displays: 3440x1440 ultrawide on DisplayPort + second monitor on HDMI
- linux-firmware 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.27 at the time (amdgpu blobs
unchanged); DMUB 0x02020020 loads fine
Affected: linux-image-7.0.0-28-generic 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1 (installed
2026-07-17). Not every single shutdown was affected, but i could not
find out why. My HDMI is not directly connected to a screen, maybe that
playes a role in it. userspace shutdown finishes ("The system will power
off now!", filesystems unmounted, wtmp records a clean "shutdown system
down"), displays go black, but fans + RGB keep running and the box never
cuts power. No problems observed carrying into the next boot.
Works: linux-image-6.17.0-40-generic 6.17.0-40.40~24.04.1, only clean
poweroffs since the pin in GRUB. Also fine on 6.17.0-23/-29/-35 before
that.
Not tested on 7.0.0-29/-30
