Public bug reported:

After upgrading from linux-image-7.0.0-28-generic (7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1) to
linux-image-7.0.0-30-generic (7.0.0-30.30~24.04.1), hibernation no longer
completes on a Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G5+ ARP (Radeon 680M / Rembrandt, 1002:1681).

The hibernation image is created and written to swap successfully, but
immediately before power-off the kernel detects a wakeup event and rolls the
hibernation back. The rollback itself is not the fatal part: on the way back up
amdgpu fails to suspend/resume its PSP IP block, enters a GPU reset loop, and
the graphical session dies. The machine has to be rebooted forcibly.

On 7.0.0-28 the exact same setup hibernated successfully 19 times in a row over
about two weeks. On 7.0.0-30 it failed on both attempts (2 of 2).

--- Steps to reproduce ---

1. Boot 7.0.0-30-generic.
2. systemctl hibernate (or hibernate from the GNOME menu)
3. Observe: system does not power off; screen goes black/unresponsive, GPU
   resets repeatedly, gnome-shell crashes.

--- Expected ---

System powers off and resumes from the hibernation image (as on
7.0.0-28).

--- Actual ---

Image is written, hibernation is rolled back, amdgpu wedges.

linux-image-generic-hwe-24.04 was upgraded 7.0.0-28.28~24.04.1 ->
7.0.0-30.30~24.04.1 on 2026-08-31 00:50 (per /var/log/dpkg.log). The first
failure followed on the first hibernation attempt on the new kernel.

Booting 7.0.0-28-generic is a working workaround.

Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS
Machine:      LENOVO 21J0 / ThinkBook 16 G5+ ARP (board LNVNB161216)

              subsystem Lenovo [17aa:3815], driver amdgpu
RAM: 27 GiB (MemTotal 28405952 kB)
Swap:         /swap.img, 32 GiB (file on ext4)
Kernel cmdline (unchanged between working and broken kernel):
  BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-7.0.0-30-generic root=UUID=... ro quiet splash
  resume=UUID=... resume_offset=55672832 vt.handoff=7
linux-firmware: 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.29
systemd:        255.4-1ubuntu8.17
mesa:           25.2.8-0ubuntu0.24.04.2

--- Notes ---

The hibernation configuration is unchanged since it was set up in April 2026
(/etc/default/grub untouched since 2026-08-19), swap is large enough for the
image, and resume=/resume_offset= are correct - the image writes and the
"rolling back" happens after a complete, successful write.

I have not been able to identify what generates the wakeup event. It happens
in the second freeze phase, after the image write, on both attempts.
