Thanks for the quick feedback! You're right, the 2 minutes are not related to the WiFi chip, but to NetworkManager retrying after a while.
On a WPA2-only SSID, it works as expected (I spent a few weeks in another place with a different router and it could connect reliably). It seems the issue is when the router provides WPA3, even in "WPA 2/3 - Compatibility" mode.
