No need to install anything yet. The noble kernel (linux-hwe-7.0 7.0.0-38.38~24.04.3) carries the fix but is still being packaged and is not in noble-proposed yet (tracker: bug 2165487). The build in the kernel team PPA is a pre-release build that has already been respun twice, so please don't use it.
Once it lands, the kernel bot will post here asking for verification-needed-noble-linux-hwe-7.0. The bot allows 5 working days from that post, so please run the steps below soon after it appears: 1. From your camera-fix checkout, remove the workaround so the test exercises the packaged module, not the DKMS copy and modprobe alias: sudo ./uninstall.sh 2. Enable noble-proposed as described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed and install the kernel: sudo apt install -t noble-proposed linux-generic-hwe-24.04 3. Reboot into 7.0.0-38-generic and run: uname -r modinfo -n dw9719 ./tools/diagnose.sh modinfo -n should point under kernel/, not updates/dkms. A short capture in any camera app and one suspend/resume cycle would also help. Rear autofocus errors ("Error writing reg 0x0003", "Lens initialisation failed") are the known issue in your README and are separate from this bug. 4. Post the output here and I'll update the tag. If diagnose.sh reports a FAIL, post it before re-running install.sh. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2162045 Title: linux 7.0: dw9719 VCM never binds, disabling all IPU3 cameras (regression, fixed upstream) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2162045/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
