In order to reproduce the bug, I had to follow an additional step documented in the linked upstream bug report but not in the test plan:
> Without noticing the layout, start typing the password → it is incorrect, and > the “wrong password” message appears under the field. > Immediately switch the layout to EN and start typing the password again. > While typing, as soon as the error message disappears, the layout > automatically switches back to the layout that was active before the message > appeared (RU), which makes the password incorrect again. I suppose it is possible to get the same bug even without typing an incorrect password the first time, but I'm not sure under which other circumstances. In any case, I'm confident it is the same bug. With that said, I've verified gnome-shell 46.0-0ubuntu6~24.04.15 in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
