Hmm, the dpkg log shows that not only linux-firmware was upgraded, but also a bunch of linux-firmware-* was installed. Juerg, does your comment at #4 nonetheless stand?
The only other possibly affecting package I see in your log is gtk4. But since you report the bug remains even with --gtk-version=3, I do not think it plays a role in this bug, either. I could not reproduce in 26.10, Weston(Wayland) or DWM(X11), 3rd gen Intel; This GPU-specific apparently.
