Public bug reported: cfortran 20210827-1.1 fails to build from source in stonking.
Regressing architectures (built before, fail now): amd64 (arch:all package; the failure is not architecture-specific). Build log(s): - https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cfortran/20210827-1.1/+build/32793393/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-stonking-amd64.cfortran_20210827-1.1_BUILDING.txt.gz Diagnosis (deterministic matcher): testsuite-failure — dh_auto_test. Root cause: GCC 15 defaults to C23, where an empty parameter list `()` means "takes no arguments". cfortran.h's PROTOCCALLSFFUN* macros declare Fortran routines as e.g. `easy_()` and then call them with arguments (PROTOCCALLSFFUN2 -> VOID_cfG -> VOID_cfGZ -> CFC_, cfortran.h:1482/1494), so `make check` (dh_auto_test) fails: e2/e2.c:10:28: error: too many arguments to function 'easy_'; expected 0, have 2 The previous version 20210827-1 last built successfully in jammy with an older GCC; this is a toolchain-induced regression. Upstream: https://github.com/bastien-roucaries/cfortran/issues/2 ("Compilation fails with C23") is open with no fix committed. Related open PR https://github.com/bastien-roucaries/cfortran/pull/3 (fstr_test coredump with -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=3 -O2) may also be needed once compilation succeeds. Debian unstable carries the same 20210827-1.1 with no fix; no Debian BTS report exists yet. Suggested workaround: build with -std=gnu17 (e.g. `export DEB_CFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND = -std=gnu17` in debian/rules). A proper fix requires cfortran.h to emit full prototypes. ** Affects: cfortran (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: cfortran (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Tags: ftbfs stonking update-excuse ** Tags added: ftbfs stonking update-excuse -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2168914 Title: cfortran 20210827-1.1 FTBFS: test suite fails with GCC 15 / C23 (too many arguments to function) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cfortran/+bug/2168914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
