Hi Adam, CWills, I do actually have an update. I spent the day on this, and I have been testing tag v7.3-rc6 of Linus's mainline tree, and unpatched I got a solid 3 minute hang, and when I applied the latest tarball of patches, I haven't managed to get a hang yet.
These new patches do appear to be effective. I still want to keep testing for another day or so. Are you interested in a PPA with a test kernel that you can put into dev / staging / production based on the latest 7.0 resolute kernel that you can run your workload over to make sure it works for your use case? I can make one for you tomorrow if you wish. Alternatively I could make you a 7.3 kernel for stonking, but I think its a bit early for the 7.3 HWE kernel for resolute. Once we have done a bit more testing, we can start looking to get these patches submitted to the relevant subsystem maintainers for their review. Are you interested in helping with this since you created the patches? Or do you want me to drive upstream review? I'm going to keep testing the patched 7.3-rc6 kernel tomorrow, but it is looking okay so far.
