** Description changed:
- Same issue here, and I think it's the mutter regression already linked in
#5852: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/work_items/4803 (fixed by mutter
MR !5126, released in mutter 50.3).
- ▎
- ▎ Setup: Ubuntu 26.04.1, GNOME 50.1 on Wayland, mutter 50.1-0ubuntu2.4, Wacom
Intuos S (CTL-4100).
- ▎
- ▎ - Reproduced with Xournal++ 1.3.7+dev (PPA nightly) and 1.3.8 (Flathub
stable). The pen works in a normal or maximized window. In fullscreen it
reliably stops working once the pen is held away from the tablet for about 3
seconds. Picking a tool from a toolbar dropdown triggers it too. The mouse
keeps working.
- ▎ - In a WAYLAND_DEBUG log, zwp_tablet_tool_v2 events
(proximity_in/motion/down) arrive normally at the main surface in fullscreen
until the freeze. After a proximity_out, only wl_pointer events reach the
window. So the problem is on the compositor side, not in Xournal++'s input
handling.
- ▎ - Running with GDK_BACKEND=x11 (XWayland) doesn't help: there the pen moves
the cursor but can't click or draw at all.
- ▎
- ▎ Workaround until distros ship mutter ≥ 50.3: use a maximized window instead
of fullscreen. Ubuntu 26.10 (mutter 51) is reported as fixed.
