Update after testing on real hardware:
1. The upstream patch (ACP6.3 SoundWire machine entry for the Everest ES9356
codec, bugzilla.kernel.org #222092) has been verified: built mainline 7.2.9
with that patch, and the card plus all four endpoints (speakers, headset,
internal DMIC, headset mic) are created and the codec driver binds.
2. A second kernel issue was found and fixed locally: sound/soc/codecs/es9356.c
declares no .rates/.formats for its DAIs, so every PCM open failed with
-EINVAL ("No matching rates"). With that fix, internal speakers, internal
microphone, headset and desktop playback all work.
3. Desktop audio additionally needs an ALSA UCM profile: on this release
/usr/share/alsa/ucm2/conf.d/amd-soundwire/amd-soundwire.conf is a symlink to
the Intel sof-soundwire profile, which does not know the ES9356 component
string, so UCM loading fails and WirePlumber falls back to "stereo-fallback"
(only the first PCM of the card, the headset output, is exposed). A minimal
local UCM verb mapping Speaker/Headphones/Mic/Headset Mic fixes it; this
belongs to alsa-ucm-conf, not to the kernel.
Request: please track the two kernel fixes and carry them in the Ubuntu kernel
once they land upstream, and consider the UCM gap for alsa-ucm-conf.
