Public bug reported: The Xilinx kernel snap currently uses classic kernel packages and generates its own initramfs and FIT image. The goal is to switch Snapcraft to the existing signed Ubuntu Core FIT produced by linux-signed-xilinx, preserving its contents and signatures.
In linux-meta-xilinx, add the ARM64 linux-image-uc-xilinx metapackage and its linux-image-uc-xilinx-6.8 variant. They should depend on the matching UC image, linux-firmware and wireless-regdb. This lets the snap follow kernel updates through META without hardcoding an ABI. Existing classic metapackages remain unchanged. In linux-signed-xilinx, integrate the OP-TEE support proposed in: https://code.launchpad.net/~itrue/canonical-kernel-snaps/+git/kernel-snaps-u24.04/+merge/509845 The initramfs should include and load the OP-TEE driver early. The K26 device trees should enable OP-TEE and reserve the memory required by its firmware. These changes must happen before FIT signing, rather than during snap assembly. The K24/KD240 configuration should remain unchanged. Snapcraft can then stage the UC metapackage and package the signed FIT as kernel.img, together with its matching modules, firmware and boot metadata. It no longer needs to generate an initramfs or FIT locally. Local packaging and FIT generation checks passed, including signing with a test key. Native ARM64 builds and hardware validation are still required. These changes do not provide TF-A or OP-TEE OS.
