Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

 * An auto-hidden dock disappears when a window is maximised on the monitor
next to the dock's, and stays hidden until that window is unmaximised.
Hits the default Left dock on any dual-monitor setup.

 * Regression from 104ubuntu1 (upstream 90e9e8e8); noble and earlier are
fine.

[ Test Plan ]

Two monitors side by side. In Settings -> Displays arrange them left to
right and note which one is on the right.

In Settings -> Ubuntu Desktop -> Dock:

   - turn on "Auto-hide the Dock"
   - "Position on Screen" -> Left
   - "Show on" -> the right-hand monitor (not "All displays")

 1. Maximise a window on the LEFT monitor (Super+Up).
    Expected: the dock stays visible.
On 105ubuntu1 it slides away and stays hidden.

 2. Maximise a window on the dock's OWN monitor.
    Expected: the dock hides.

 3. Unmaximise or minimise it.
    Expected: the dock reappears.

 4. Drag a window so it overlaps the dock.
    Expected: the dock hides.

 5. Repeat 2-4 with "Position on Screen" -> Bottom and "Panel Mode" on, and
    once on a single monitor.

[ Where problems could occur ]

 * Opposite failure: the dock stops dodging a window that should cover it.
This is the direction to watch. Guarded because auto-hide and fixed mode
are mutually exclusive: an auto-hiding dock claims no strut, so the work
area is not shrunk and maximised/tiled windows extend past the dock edge
rather than stopping at it, so a strict test still detects them.

 * Fractional scaling rounding could put a window edge exactly on the dock
edge, leaving the dock visible over it; test on a scaled display.

 * Only users with auto-hide enabled are exposed; the default is a fixed
dock, where this code path does not run.
