Public bug reported: The Microarray MAFP USB fingerprint reader (3274:8012) is not detected by fprintd on Ubuntu 26.04: fprintd reports no devices with libfprint-2-2 1:1.95.1+tod1-0ubuntu2.
Upstream libfprint added support for this device with the new mafpmoc driver: 7cf358d4 "mafpmoc: Support Microarray Inc. series fingerprint sensor PID 8012" https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libfprint/libfprint/-/commit/7cf358d4 It was merged on 2026-06-18 and is part of the upstream libfprint 1.94.100 release (2026-07-26). Neither the resolute package (1:1.95.1+tod1-0ubuntu2) nor the current development release package (1:1.95.2+tod1-1ubuntu2) includes the mafpmoc driver: the library has no mafpmoc symbols and the metainfo has no usb:v3274p8012 entry. Other users report the device working with upstream libfprint 1.94.100 and fprintd 1.94.5 (enroll and verify, press type, match-on-chip): https://github.com/omacom/omarchy/issues/11426 This reader is sold as a cheap external USB "Windows Hello" dongle (for example one hardware revision of the FeinTech FPS00200) and is also built into some laptops (for example ASUS ProArt P16). Please consider merging the mafpmoc driver into the Ubuntu libfprint package, and backporting it to 26.04 (resolute) if possible.
