Public bug reported:
[Impact]
Upstream released 21.1.25 on Oct 7th with a dozen CVE fixes plus some
other stable backports. This was accepted into stonking-proposed that
day, but due to infra issues getting it past autopkgtests took too long
to be included in the final image (some flavours still use xserver),
hence this SRU.
Some users on Debian reported that the new version would crash on
startup, so this also removes an upstream commit which broke the driver
ABI and got reverted upstream as well.
The matching xwayland release (24.1.14) did get in stonking in time.
[Test case]
Check that an xserver session starts on virtual machines and real hw,
and basic desktop operations still work. To do that install 'xserver-
xorg', and select the X11 session from the login screen.
Also, install 'x11-apps', run 'x11perf -all' and see that it runs
without issues.
[Regression potential]
This is a new upstream bugfix release with mainly CVE fixes plus some
build system fixes etc. There shouldn't be any more surprises beyond the
ABI break that already got addressed upstream and in Debian.
