For those who needs 7z support in ark in Ubuntu 24.04 there's a walkaround: remove 7zip package which is shipped with 24.04 (it won't work properly without qt5 fix anyway) and install older versions of packages, which provide 7z support, taken from the previous release: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/mantic/amd64/p7zip https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/mantic/amd64/p7zip-full Download DEB-packages and install them: sudo dpkg -i p7zip_16.02+dfsg-8_amd64.deb p7zip-full_16.02+dfsg-8_amd64.deb In order to prevent them from updating (in 24.04 they are empty transitional packages) put them on hold: sudo apt-mark hold p7zip-full
