Hey Dan,

Thanks for reporting your issue with the Ubuntu kernel!

I've written two patches based on the one found by you/your chatbot.
(hopefully it will have more of a chance being accepted upstream with
the changes)

It is functionally the same as that patch but only affects the loop
highlighted by your kernel log. I've applied those patches on top of the
latest kernel release (7.0.0-39) and created a package on my PPA [1] for
you to test. (it's currently building) If you confirm the changes do fix
your issue, then we'll still have to wait for the patch to be accepted
upstream as per Ubuntu SRU policy. Once that is done, I'll submit it for
inclusion in the subsequent Ubuntu kernel update.

Note that this fix will likely break ZFS DKMS builds, since a major
function in block/ has had a change in signature. If you really do need
that module, I can try my hand at producing an updated package for that.

To test the fix, you can do the following:

FIRST: check that the package is available and done building in the
PPA

  $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cremfuelled/kernel
$ sudo apt upgrade # Should only try to install
linux-image-unsigned-7.0.0-39~lp2169515
$ sudo reboot # OR KEXEC AS YOU PREFER
$ uname -r # Should now be on the new kernel version.
$ # RERUN THE MANUAL TRIM
