Public bug reported:
Hardware: Dell XPS 13 9320 (Alder Lake), MIPI camera OV01A10 behind
Intel IPU6, IVSC (mei_vsc, ivsc_csi, ivsc_ace) and USB-LJCA bridge.
OS: Ubuntu 26.04, kernel 7.0.0-38-generic, BIOS 2.32.0.
Camera userspace: Ubuntu IPU6 camera HAL + v4l2-relayd (v4l2loopback).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot; the camera works (ffplay /dev/video0 shows an image, LED on).
2. systemctl hibernate, then resume.
3. Open the camera: black frames, camera LED stays off.
Expected: the camera works after resume from hibernation, as it does
after a normal boot.
Actual: on resume, dmesg shows the sensor being removed (call traces in
ov01a10_power_off() called from ov01a10_remove()), the IVSC being
re-initialised ("intel_vsc intel_vsc: silicon stepping version is 0:2"),
and then:
ivsc_csi intel_vsc-92335fcf-...: mei-csi probed without device fwnode!
After this, the sensor is missing from the media graph
(media-ctl -p -d /dev/media0 shows no ov01a10 entity) and the camera HAL
falls back to a generic sensor configuration (loads AR0234_TGL_10bits.aiqb
instead of ov01a10.aiqb), failing with "Stream config is not supported"
or waitFrame timeouts.
Recovery attempts that do NOT work (relay service stopped first):
- reloading intel_ipu6 / intel_ipu6_isys / intel_ipu6_psys only;
- additionally reloading ov01a10, ivsc_csi, ivsc_ace, ipu_bridge
(with intel_ipu6 loaded before ivsc_csi and ov01a10);
- reloading the full chain: usb_ljca, gpio_ljca, i2c_ljca, spi_ljca,
intel_skl_int3472_discrete, mei_vsc_hw, mei_vsc, ivsc_ace, intel_ipu6,
ivsc_csi, ov01a10, isys, psys.
In every case "mei-csi probed without device fwnode!" reappears and only
a reboot restores the camera.
Possible cause (hypothesis): on restore from hibernation the USB-LJCA
device is unbound and re-bound instead of being resumed, so the IVSC and
sensor devices are recreated after ipu_bridge has assigned the software
fwnode graph, and that graph is not rebuilt for the new devices.
Suspend-to-idle (s2idle) does not trigger this problem.
