Public bug reported:

ThinkPad X13s Gen 1, model 21BX0013US (no WWAN modem), BIOS N3HET93W (1.65), EC
1.23.
Clean install of Ubuntu 26.04.1, kernel 7.0.0-38-generic. ubuntu-drivers
reports all
drivers installed (hwe-lenovo-x13s-meta).

There is no sound card at all: aplay -l reports no soundcards, PipeWire shows
only
Dummy Output. (Night Light works on 26.04; this report is only about audio.)

The TX SoundWire link to the WCD938x headset codec never comes up, so
the card fails:

  qcom-soundwire 3330000.soundwire: qcom_swrm_irq_handler: SWR bus clsh
detected (359 times so far)
wcd938x_codec audio-codec: soundwire device init timeout
snd-sc8280xp sound: ASoC: failed to instantiate card -110

Further observations (from 25.10 logs):
- The same link also logs "link failed to connect" and "write overflow" over
1,300 times.
- The RX link to the same codec (3210000) recovers after one clash at startup.
- The WSA speaker link (3250000) shows no errors.
- adsp, cdsp and slpi remoteprocs are running; q6apm and q6prm load.
- The device tree contains qcom,sc8280xp-sndcard.

The same failure has occurred since Ubuntu 25.10 (6.17.0-5/-8-generic, LP:
#2126982)
and with the 6.19 qcom-x1 kernel from ppa:juergh/linux-qcom-x1. A full
power-off with
the battery drained didn't help.

Questions: does this look like a hardware fault in the headset codec or its TX
SoundWire lines? Would a device-tree change that leaves the WCD938x links out
of the
sound card let the speakers work on their own?
