Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS on ASUS TUF Gaming F16 FX607VJ.
The laptop suspends and resumes correctly using s2idle, but it can only
be woken using an external USB keyboard.
The following integrated devices cannot wake the laptop:
- Internal AT Translated Set 2 keyboard
- Power button
- Lid switch
The internal keyboard works correctly while the system is running and
is detected at:
/sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio0
Its wakeup setting is already enabled:
/sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio0/power/wakeup = enabled
The problem occurs with both official Ubuntu kernels tested:
- 7.0.0-38-generic
- 7.0.0-34-generic
The active sleep mode is:
[s2idle] deep
Successful s2idle cycles appear in the kernel log as:
PM: suspend entry (s2idle)
PM: suspend exit
However, the system only exits s2idle after pressing a key on an external
USB keyboard. Pressing a key on the internal keyboard, briefly pressing
the laptop power button, or closing and opening the lid does not initiate
resume.
Deep suspend was also tested, but it is not usable on this laptop. The
kernel reaches:
PM: suspend entry (deep)
but never reaches:
PM: suspend exit
The laptop then requires a forced shutdown.
Hardware and firmware information:
- Model: ASUS TUF Gaming F16 FX607VJ
- BIOS: FX607VJ.340
- Internal keyboard: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard
- Internal keyboard controller: i8042/serio0
- Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS
- Current tested kernel: 7.0.0-34-generic
- Also reproduced with: 7.0.0-38-generic
- System firmware is fully updated according to fwupdmgr
- No firmware updates are currently available
Wake from suspend works correctly with other operating systems installed
or tested on the same laptop. Therefore, the integrated hardware is
capable of waking the laptop, but the issue occurs under Ubuntu/Kubuntu.
Expected result:
The internal keyboard, power button, or lid switch should be able to wake
the laptop from s2idle.
Actual result:
Only an external USB keyboard can wake the laptop from s2idle.
