I have prepared a Noble source debdiff for review, based on binutils 2.42-4ubuntu2.10 and proposing version 2.42-4ubuntu2.11.
It backports the existing upstream 2.42 PR32991 fix without disabling relaxation globally, and adds an amd64 autopkgtest reproducing GOTPCRELX PUSH misrelaxation without a GPU or a newer assembler. Local validation with a native build from the patched Ubuntu source: - Installed Noble ld: reproducer fails with SIGSEGV as expected. - Patched ld, without --no-relax: reproducer passes. - ld i386.exp and x86-64.exp: 965 PASS, 2 XFAIL, 1 UNSUPPORTED; no unexpected failures. - Proposed source package builds with dpkg-source; debdiff applies cleanly in dry-run to a fresh extraction of the official base. This is not yet a clean-environment binary .deb build or full autopkgtest run. Please see the attached validation report for commands and limits. Please nominate Noble and review/sponsor this update. The fix status of the current development and newer supported releases also needs confirmation before the SRU upload. ** Patch added: "lp2172541-noble.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/binutils/+bug/2172541/+attachment/6013544/+files/lp2172541-noble.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2172541 Title: Noble ld.bfd misrelaxes x86-64 GOTPCRELX PUSH into CALL (upstream PR32991) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/binutils/+bug/2172541/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
