Still happening with the current resolute-updates packages, so 50.1-0ubuntu2.5
does not contain
the fix either:

  Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, Wayland session
  libmutter-18-0 50.1-0ubuntu2.5 (resolute-updates)
  gnome-shell 50.1-0ubuntu1.4
  libxkbcommon0 1.13.1-1

Backtrace from the core dump, symbols via debuginfod.ubuntu.com:

  #6 xkb_atom_lookup (ctx=<optimized out>, string="Mod2") at
../src/context-priv.c:82
  #7 xkb_keymap_mod_get_index (keymap=0x0, name="Mod2") at ../src/keymap.c:347
  #8 update_state_from_modifier_state (keymap_native=0x713a140045e0, ...) at
../src/backends/native/meta-keymap-native.c:181
  #9 update_keymap_in_main (user_data=0x61f578533200) at
../src/backends/native/meta-keymap-native.c:232
  #10 g_main_dispatch () at ../../../glib/gmain.c:3591

keymap is NULL in frame #7, while keymap_native->impl.keymap is non-NULL again
in the core. This
matches the race fixed upstream by 709ef343
(https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/5064): the input thread
clears
impl.keymap and sets the new one in meta_keymap_native_set_keymap_in_impl(),
and the main thread
reads it in between.

Trigger here: input sources [('xkb', 'us'), ('ibus', 'hangul'), ('xkb', 'de'),
('ibus',
'typing-booster')]. A password manager filled a web login form, and gnome-shell
reloads the input
sources whenever a password field gains or loses focus (_ibusSetContentType() in
ui/status/keyboard.js). That gave 13 keymap recompiles within about 1.2 s, and
gnome-shell crashed
2 ms after the last one.

Bug #2171283 reports the same crash and asks for the same backport.
