Public bug reported:

Environment:

-Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
-Mesa 26.0.3-1ubuntu1
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (GP106)
-Nouveau kernel driver / NVK Vulkan driver
-Kernel 7.0.0-38-generic
-Wayland
-GTK 4.22.2

Problem:

Opening certain PDFs with Papers crashes using GTK's vulkan renderer under
wayland.
I couldn't exactly pinpoint what features of the pdf cause the crash, but I was
consistently able to reproduce it with the x86_64 ABI pdf and ARM's armv7m
reference manual, but the armv8m reference manual didn't cause a crash no
matter what I tried.

Logs are attached.
I have also debug info from vulkan for vm and push/push_async but I doubt it
offers any extra insight.

I tried the same setup with opengl renderer, changing the ICD file to
lavapipe instead of nouveau or straight up using X11, all of them
resolve the issue.

Looking at the upstream versions, the issue seems to be resolved, I
tried the same setup with versions 26.1.0 and 26.2.6, and they both fix
the issue, and it's listed on the bug fixes list within 26.1.0 though I
am not sure if it was back-ported to any 26.0.* versions.

I would kindly ask you to consider backporting the fixes, or bumping the
version, in the meanwhile, any of the proposed fixes (using opengl
instead, lpv ICD, or X11) can be a temporary solution to anyone facing
the same issue.
