Hello, I would like to bring attention to an existing Linux kernel patch that addresses this battery status issue on the ASUS Vivobook 18 M1807HA.
I am the author of the patch: [PATCH] ACPI: battery: Add ASUS Vivobook 18 M1807HA status quirk Kernel mailing list archive: https://lkml.rescloud.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/2605.3/00115.html The issue is caused by incorrect ACPI battery status reporting. When the AC adapter is unplugged, ADP0 correctly reports that AC power is offline, but BAT0 can incorrectly alternate between: - Full - Not charging - Discharging This also causes KDE Plasma to repeatedly switch between energy profiles. I developed a DMI-specific kernel quirk that checks the AC adapter state and reports "Discharging" when the adapter is offline and the firmware incorrectly reports "Full" or "Not charging". The important point is that this patch has been tested successfully on real hardware. After applying the patch: - Battery status remains stable. - The incorrect status transitions disappear. - KDE Plasma no longer repeatedly switches energy profiles. I have already submitted this patch to the Linux kernel mailing list twice, but unfortunately I have not received any response or feedback so far. The fix works on my ASUS Vivobook 18 M1807HA, and I believe it would be beneficial to have this issue addressed in the official Linux kernel. I would appreciate it if the Ubuntu kernel team could take a look at the existing patch and consider whether it could be included in the Ubuntu kernel. Thank you for your time and consideration.
