Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

After the installation of Google Earth, with root privileges, an icon owned by
root was put on my desktop.
Everytime Nautilus visualizes that icon it flashes 5 or 6 times then crashes.
Since the icon is put on desktop, Nautilus crashes at Gnome startup.
Changing the owner of the icon file to myself avoids crashes.
I tried to change permissions on other icons on the Desktop, but nothing
happens. The strange thing is that it happens only with this icon.

The icon's file name is "Google-googleearth.desktop" but it appears as "Google
Earth" on Nautilus.
This is the content of the icon file:

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Google Earth
GenericName=3D planet viewer
Comment=Explore, search and discover the planet
Exec=/opt/google-earth//googleearth %f
Terminal=false
MultipleArgs=false
Type=Application
Icon=/opt/google-earth//googleearth-icon.png
Categories=Application;Network
MimeType=application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml;application/vnd.google-earth.kmz;application/earthviewer;application/keyhole;
GenericName[it_IT]=3D planet viewer
