This has now occurred while resuming from suspend on Windows XP SP2.  A very 
quick google led me here:

Apparently this problem is reasonably widespread on Vaios.

I found that disabling the driver, suspending and resuming and re-
enabling the driver (i.e. what I'd do under Linux) fixed the problem.
Not sure if this is be a buggy BIOS issue?  The DSDT is here:
