no need to be a guru :)
Just open a Terminal and type:

dmesg > dmesg.log
lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

and attach both dmesg.log and lspci-vvnn.log to this report. This way one could 
possible
find odd things going on in your hardware.

As Ubuntu 8.04 is approaching: did your try 7.10 yet or even an 8.04
alpha release?
