Greetings, my 2 cents. 64 bit Gutsy; alternate install; Dell 1420; 1440x900 LCD; Nvidia 8400M GS (Regular 64 bit install never reaches GDM - LCD turns off; computer hangs; no shell) (32bit version worked fine.) Agree potential new users would be turned off if not fixed.
Tried every work around. The last one I tried, Orange2K's solution fixed usplash and faster boot time.
