I am running Ubuntu 7.10 64-bit. Whenever I leave the computer on for
more than one day without touching the keyboard, mouse or other input
device, the computer wont respond. The LCD screen goes to power save
mode, and pressing keys or moving the mouse wont show the screen. I
turn off and on the screen and it says no input. I then try opening and
closing the DVD drive but there is no response to manually pressing the
buttons. I can hear the fans (CPU and Case Fans) on and the power light
is illuminated. I must restart the computer before I can continue.
My hardware configuration is as follows:
XFX GeForce 8500 GT 512MB DDR2
Abit AB9 QuadGT Motherboard - Intel Socket 775, RAID ready
CP2-DUO-Q6600 - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor - 2.40GHz
500GB Seagate Barracuda SATA (total of 4)
300GB Seagate Barracuda - 1 of these total (OS drive)
OCZ Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB) \
My Kernel version is:
