Suspending from Hardy Alpha-4 LiveCD worked perfectly (actually my laptop suspended and woke up so fast like I had never seen it before!!). I haven't tried the acpi_video_flags-thing, but since I'm running fine with feisty-kernel 2.6.20-16 for the moment I think I can wait for hardy to be released...
