There is no real upstream work being done on this plugin. Someone with some programming bent needs to adopt it as a pet project for the required changes to really be implemented, I'm afraid. Perhaps a Google Summer of Code sponsorship might happen, or Red Hat/Canonical might decide they have a commercial interest in good Windows VPN support on their client OS. Until then we're at the whim of those who are prepared to do the work themselves.
