Another work around is to make sure that the section "Misc" in smb.conf has the folling option: ############ Misc ############ ... host msdfs = no The above option can be set from the Kcontrol module and is by default "host msdfs = yes" Kcontrol-> Internet -> Samba -> Advanced -> VFS -> Host msdfs checkbox. I could not find the option in the standard System settings.
