I remember that having ONE open session worked for me, but I will try to replicate the bug again at home (i'm at work with no Ubuntu :( )
I only record read-only dvd's, which are of course completely erased to start with, so it doesn't only happen with dvd-rw's. Again, I don't think it's related to the particular program used for dvd burning.
