I talked to the contributor that has committed the next release,
1.0.16r2 , to the upstream.

He said that he is aware of the issue and that the new release package
should fix this problem.  The new package has been built and is
currently being pushed to the repository mirrors.

This is not a problem with the kernel... this is a problem with the alsa
libraries.  Building the alsa-modules from source with module-assistant
does not fix this since the problem is with the actual alsa code.
