I am having the same issue, Thunderbird does not show many attachment icons.
Please compile with the option --enable-image- decoders=icon,png,gif,jpeg,bmp AND install the package gnome-icon-theme when making the next Debian Package for the next version, and please upload a fixed copy to the repositories.
