Am currently on Hoary. 2.6.24-8-generic. Issue occurs for me every time I hold down a key (usually an arrow key ;) ) while clicking on mouse. Immediately the key freezes, with repeat. No info in dmesg, xsession-errors or Xorg log.
Unplugging keyboard and mouse does not help. rmmod/modprobe of hid/usbhid doesn't help.
