I've also experienced a segfault problem on 7.10 64bits. I've seen a call to /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libubuntulooks.so in the gdb backtrace making me realize that the crashes started when I changed the default gtk theme (I'm using fluxbox) to Human (default gtk theme of ubuntu) Reswitching the theme to another one (Industrial) solved the problem.
