I dunno if this is the same problem as bug 63508, but maybe.

My WIFI was working in Edgy until the upgrade to:

[UPGRADE] fglrx-kernel-source 8.28.8+2.6.17.5-5 -> 8.28.8+2.6.17.5-6
[UPGRADE] linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic 2.6.17-10.24 -> 2.6.17-10.25
[UPGRADE] linux-libc-dev 2.6.17-10.24 -> 2.6.17-10.25
[UPGRADE] linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-10-generic 2.6.17.5-5 -> 2.6.17.5-6
[UPGRADE] linux-restricted-modules-common 2.6.17.5-5 -> 2.6.17.5-6
(from /var/log/aptitude)

The later upgrade to 2.6.17-10.26 haven't changed it.

It seems that during boot a ifrename is tried invoked, but it fails. I
dunno if this is of relevance, but my WIFI were previously "eth0" and
now is "wlan0" (but recognised as a wired interface).

ifrename cannot be installed by itself "No candidate version found "
(aptitude).
