Hi im using an Hp Photosmart C4280 printer and i shared it using system-config-printer.py 0.7.75 in gutsy and checking the "shared" box on the server. I used the same system-config-printer on the client computer to connect. I do not know how to ping the printer ... Im sorry i do not have the hp-check tool installed and I can't find it in the repositories. But I have tried hp-info, don't know it it helps... Here is the result :
