We get the same bug. It seems that the problem is not present with the xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.1.1-0ubuntu-9) available on Gutsy CD-ROM. The problem comes with updates done when using internet sources.list repositories.
So in order to bypass the problem on our machines we downgrad the package with the old version.
