Public bug reported: After uninstalling all compiz* packages from a default Ubuntu 7.10 installation logging in would leave you without any window manager. Starting "metacity" from the terminal it works correctly (however, if I abort it then with Ctrl+C I can no longer write into the terminal, nor into any new terminal, to start it again). Adding "metacity" for autostart on System -> Applications -> Session doesn't work.
After re-installing the removed Compiz packages everything works correctly again. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- After uninstalling Compiz no window manager starts on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
