reference to the "official" (Intel) recommendation.

Also please note that when the system is running on batteries, the BIOS
scales the processor down to 1.2 GHz automatically. Is this unsafe as
well? I have used this machine under Windows for 4 years, some weeks
under Ubuntu, and no problem so far. Or does the BIOS know something
that the kernel can't? I doubt it...

If you say that there is no other choice for setting it up by default, I
accept it. However, is there no way to override this manually?
