Also please note that when the system is running on batteries, the BIOS scales the processor down to 1.2 GHz automatically. Is this unsafe as well? I have used this machine under Windows for 4 years, some weeks under Ubuntu, and no problem so far. Or does the BIOS know something that the kernel can't? I doubt it... If you say that there is no other choice for setting it up by default, I accept it.
