Well, from my relatively ignorant point of view, it seems that it would be
worthwhile to attempt to get this actually fixed in time Hardy. We really
don't want people living with this sort of oddness for 3 years. That being
it said, it would also be wise to have an acceptable fallback (reverting the
patch?) should that prove impossible. I'll commit to devoting what resources
I have to getting this done right in time for Hardy. That will primarily
amount to being a guinea pig though, since I have zero experience hacking on
things this low-level. At this point it seems speed is important, and I
think that would be the best way I could help.
