I can confirm this, noticed first with openoffice.org Calc. On a Core2Duo w/2gb RAM, Oo 2.3 and Ubuntu 7.10 w/latest updates, the application gets very slow after only about 15-20min of intensive usage (includes a lot of scrolling up and down sheets!). Shutting down all Oo instances and restarting seems to release the system resources.
