Well, I'm not so sure about that but if you have moved this to xserver- xorg-video-intel there should be "intel" module in kernel but lsmod gives only i915 and AFAIR this is in xserver-xorg-video-i810 (?). This is probably do to entry in xorg.conf in Driver section i810, but this is done automagicly by Ubuntu installer.
In fact some time ago I've tried to switch to "intel" driver but this rendered Xserver unusable. Maybe something have changed. As so as I find some time I'll try it once more.
