Thanks Pascal, but my mouse doesn't stop working altogether. It is as if the mouse has been unplugged and replugged instantly. Basically it redetects the mouse and sets it up as a new interface. These messages happen instantaneously in dmesg:
[251475.626615] hub 2-0:1.0: port 2 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... [251475.626624] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 2 [251475.738363] usb 2-2: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 [251475.913348] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [251475.929441] input: Logitech Optical USB Mouse as /class/input/input6 [251475.929528] input: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [Logitech Optical USB Mouse] on usb-0000:00:1d.1-2 Basically there is never a time when the mouse completely stops working. When this happens it is noticeable because the mouse cursor resets and goes all the way back to 0,0 on the screen.
