Public bug reported: Binary package hint: audacious
the error: Unable to read from file:///media/music/Gamma%20Ray/Singles%20%20EPs/(1997)%20Valley%20of%20the%20Kings/Gamma%20Ray%20-%2003%20Watcher%20in%20the%20Sky%20(Iron%20Savior%20Version).mp3, giving up. How to reproduce: 1. add any file to the playlist with an ampersand in the pathname. 2. Save as default list. 3. Play the file -> that works 4. exit audacious 5. start audacious 6. play the file again -> audacious starts spewing the error & uses all cpu recources. The entry in the playlist.xspf: <location>file:///media/music/Gamma%20Ray/Singles%20&%20EPs/(1997)%20Valley%20of%20the%20Kings/Gamma%20Ray%20-%2003%20Watcher%20in%20the%20Sky%20(Iron%20Savior%20Version).mp3</location> The character in the filename which isn't listed in the entry is an ampersand(&-character) When did it start: After updating audacious to the latest backported version in gutsy Which versions are those: audacious 1.4.5-1ubuntu1~gutsy1 audacious-plugins 1.4.4-1ubuntu1~gutsy1 audacious-plugins-extra 1.4.4-1ubuntu1~gutsy1 audacious-plugins-ugly 1.3.0-1 libaudacious5 1.3.2-4 libaudclient1 1.4.5-1ubuntu-1~gutsy1 libaudid3tag1 1.4.5-1ubuntu-1~gutsy1 probable cause: audacious does not save the character in its playlists, maybe compiled with a wrong flag?(i'm just guessing here, I'm no developer or maintainer) or wrong encoding on my install of gutsy or in audacious? solution: 1. don't use &'s in filepaths 2. do ??? to fix audacious ** Affects: audacious (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: audacious the error: Unable to read from file:///media/music/Gamma%20Ray/Singles%20%20EPs/(1997)%20Valley%20of%20the%20Kings/Gamma%20Ray%20-%2003%20Watcher%20in%20the%20Sky%20(Iron%20Savior%20Version).mp3, giving up.
