After some fiddling and tweaking, this seems to be an xserver-xorg problem. To reiterate:
Booting from the -10 AND -11 realtime kernels, and attempting to use the non-free nvidia driver results in a total lockup of the PC. IT is a Dell XPS m1210 with an Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 card and I'm running the x86_64 flavour. Booting with the 'nv' driver works (but obviously there is no hardware acceleration) I'd assigned this bug all over the place as I tried to figure out what was going on, but I think it's got to be the X server - if anyone can help me provide better logging and error reports I'd be happy to, because this is a really annoying issue, considering I want to actually bash on the -rt kernel and some UbuntuStudio apps! -- [hardy] Black X screen and system halt after installing linux-rt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
