Binary package hint: fontconfig
fontconfig-config includes 10-hinting-medium.conf in /etc/fonts/conf.d since
2.5.0-2ubuntu3, but DejaVu Sans looks ugly with medium hinting.
Workaround:
sudo rm /etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-medium.conf
sudo ln -s ../conf.avail/10-hinting-full.conf
/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-full.conf
