Public bug reported: The latest Adobe flash player is version r115, and it is very highly unstable and stops working for no apparent reason, especially when used with nspluginwrapper. I do understand that Adobe's flash plugin is closed source and there isn't anything you guys can do when it comes to fixing its problems, however I have a work around I think you should implement.
The r48 version of Adobe's flash plugin operates VERY well under Ubuntu in almost all situations. The r48 release is very stable when compared to the crash-prone r115. Since Hardy is supposed to be about stability, I think you guys should remove r115 from the repositories, and use version r48 instead. In fact, I think you guys should completely skip r115 and use the next Adobe flash plugin when its released as long as the stability is up to par with r48. Several websites will cause r115 to crash, especially Myspace pages. http://myspace.com/darknewday is one of the many examples, the flash based music player will turn all white and stop responding on my 64-bit Hardy install. That same site, when I was using the r48 plugin, works flawlessly. The same can be said of many flash-enabled websites. Please for the love of god get rid of flash r115. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy Should Use Flash Plugin r48 Instead of r115 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199540 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
