Did you try installing using the Alternate cd on the same system and did
similar problems occur. And is it possible to paste parts of
/var/log/syslog and /var/log/Xorg.o.log where it notes any problems that
have occured? This way it might be possible to decide where the exact
problem lies and if it's related to your hardware or some other factor.
